MAKINO TO DISPLAY AEROSPACE MACHINING TECHNOLOGY AT FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW
Makino to Display Aerospace Machining Technology at Farnborough Air Show
FARNBOROUGH,
ENGLAND – July 2008 – Makino will be displaying advancements made in the
aerospace industry at the Farnborough Air Show in Farnborough, England by
sponsoring a replica of the original Wright B Flyer and displaying current
developments in machine tool technology for aerospace production, such as parts
produced on the Makino MAG3 and G5 Grinder.
"The Farnborough International Air show is the biggest, most
internationally attended aerospace event in the world, featuring both the
history and future of aerospace technology," says Mark Rentschler, Makino
Marketing Manager. "This is an excellent stage to show aviation history,
and for cutting-edge manufacturers such as Makino, Farnborough serves as a way
to demonstrate how future-thinking aerospace manufacturers will advance the
industry."
The Farnborough Airshow is organized by the Society of British Aerospace
Companies and will be held July 14-20, 2008. Visit Makino at the NTMA booths,
H4 and E8, to witness the latest advancements of aerospace machine tool
technology.
The Wright B Flyer
Makino has committed to being the primary sponsor for an exhibit featuring a
replica of the original 1911 Wright B Flyer at the show with the help of the National Aviation Heritage Alliance (NAHA), a group
dedicated to showcasing Dayton,
Ohio's aviation heritage.
The NAHA's Executive
Director, Tony Sculimbrene, said the invitation to bring the Wright B Flyer to
Farnborough was extended to NAHA at the 2007
Paris International Airshow by Farnborough's British organizers, who are
commemorating the 100th anniversary of the first flight in the United Kingdom.
Inspired by the success of the Wright brothers, Samuel P. Cody flew in 1908 in
a field that would later become the site of the Farnborough International
Airshow. He also said that the replica will travel to Farnborough by boat,
following the example of a similar trip made by the Wright Brothers.
Makino will also sponsor a simulator that will allow visitors to virtually fly
a Wright Brothers airplane. This will be the first time the simulator
will be on display outside the United
States since its creation in 2006.
"As a global leader in metal cutting machinery for aerospace
manufacturers, Makino is proud to sponsor the National Aviation Heritage
Alliance and the Wright B Flyer at this prestigious international event,"
says Rentschler. "The chance to be associated with the Wright brothers is
a perfect fit for our company’s long history of innovation and our mutual
passion for aviation."
