Faster cutting using less wire. Only on the DUO. Makino Wire EDM Machines

Makino continues to be a world leader in developing innovative Wire EDM technologies. From the ever changing environment of a WEDM job shop, to the high demands placed on aerospace and medical manufacturers, Makino provides real life solutions to the needs of our customers.

With new WEDM advancements such as SurfaceWizard, High Tension Wire Technology, and advanced Precision and Economy Technologies libraries for .012” wire, Makino has provided the manufacturing industry the ability to produce a wider variety of parts faster, with better accuracies, surface finishes, and surface integrity, under all machining conditions. Recent testing has proven that Makino’s WEDM technologies leave little, if any, surface damage (i.e.: recast layer, HAZ, micro-cracks) on parts machined with Makino Wire EDMs.

The new DUO series WEDMs are the only machines on the market today that offer a choice of wire guide systems, Split Precision or PICO Precision, based on the specific applications needs of our customers.

DUO43 and DUO64 machines also have an advanced Automatic Wire Threading system that achieves incredible AWT times of 10 seconds or less, even at full Z stroke, in the most demanding wire threading situations.

Our newly developed DUO Technology for .012” diameter wire provides 30% faster cutting over .010” diameter wire technologies, while using 30% less wire than other standard .012” wire technologies.

Makino’s wire delivery system consumes up to 40% less wire than other standard systems. As the cost of wire continues to increase, this can amount to 10s of thousands of dollars saved each year in wire costs.

The Makino U series machines achieve a higher degree of accuracy and finish capabilities with the U32j and U53j, while the massive U86 can handle table loads up to 6600 pounds with a 20 inch Z axis.

For extreme micromachining applications, the UPJ2 Horizontal WEDM has achieved surface finishes in real life test cuts measured in the nano-meter range, and is capable of auto-threading with tungsten wire down to .0008” diameter.

Whether your applications are in the die/mold, aerospace, or medical industries, from prototype work to fully automated parts production, Makino has a solution to fit your specific requirements.
