Makino Hosts Manufacturing Day Event to Demonstrate How U.S. Manufacturers Make What Matters

Program designed to expand knowledge of manufacturing, improve public perception of manufacturing career opportunities

Mason, Ohio – September 16, 2015 – In celebration of Manufacturing Day 2015, Makino is opening its facility on Friday, Oct. 2, to more than 500 students and community visitors in order to encourage and promote youth interest in manufacturing careers. The event is set to include guided tours throughout Makino’s facility with Makino employees who are available to respond to visitors’ questions. Each tour is scheduled for one hour, followed by an hour of discussions and consultations with Makino vendors and college admissions representatives.

Manufacturing Day is an annual national event executed at the local level and supported by thousands of manufacturers as they host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other community members at open houses, plant tours and presentations designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.

“Manufacturing has been and will continue to be an integral job market for the betterment of the U.S. economy and its people, and we intend to highlight this during this year’s Manufacturing Day,” said Don Lane, president and CEO of Makino Inc. “We want to prove to today’s youth that manufacturing is a vibrant career field filled with cutting-edge technologies and plenty of opportunity. With increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the manufacturing sector, it is critical that we encourage today’s students to take a second look at the manufacturing industry—a beloved market that continues to drive economic success for our country.”

Five Makino vendors, including Kennametal and Blaser, are scheduled to be on site showcasing their technologies. In addition, four regional university admission offices are available to speak with students about ongoing education in various engineering and manufacturing fields. Key business segments highlighted during the tours include production machining, such as automotive and commercial goods, as well as aerospace manufacturing.
