Makino Machine Productivity Maximizer (MPmax)
Real-Time CNC Machine Process Control and Data Management
MPmax real-time CNC machine process-monitoring and data-management software gives manufacturers the performance visibility necessary to fully optimize production efficiency. By connecting multiple machines on a single network to a centralized computer, MPmax is able to collect, store, analyze and display high volumes of actionable machine data in real time. This enables operators, managers and owners to detect and react to bottlenecks on the fly and on the go, minimizing downtime with instant mobile alerts and remote machine monitoring.
Compatible with Makino milling machines, EDM machines, and other manufacturers’ machines that support MTConnect, MPmax acts as a central hub for monitoring critical processes across a variety of machine platforms. Its data-management capabilities track a variety of key machine performance indicators:
• Status monitoring
• Utilization monitoring
• Alarm analysis
• Spindle and axis monitoring
• Tool data management
• Probe data analysis
• Camera monitoring
• Power-consumption monitoring (option)
This ability to better understand and more closely observe CNC machine performance in real time, offers unlimited opportunities for manufacturers to maximize shop floor efficiency and get the most out of machine investments.
Improved Workflow Efficiency
The data retrieved for machine utilization, alarm events and power consumption offer manufacturers
an opportunity to analyze and troubleshoot workflow inefficiencies. Work can be transferred between machines, based on conditions of over- and underutilization, in order to balance flow on the shop floor. With MPmax, energy consumption can be monitored and jobs can be scheduled for a particular time of day, around fluctuating energy costs, for enhanced savings.
Enhanced Machine Performance
Accuracy and performance can be tracked on critical part features, to ensure the highest level of part quality.
Axis forces, loads and speeds can be followed and the data then used to fine-tune processes for faster cutting speeds and greater depths of cut. Makino’s Autonomic Spindle Technology (AST) offers spindle sensors that help the MPmax software display cutting force. Tool data can be registered, managed and monitored for multiple machines from one centralized location.
The MPmax allows capabilities for remote viewing, giving operators and management the ability to respond to and track processes as they occur, without interrupting other day-to-day activities.
Machine tool controls are displayed in real time from any networked PC. If the machine is camera-equipped, the software can capture an internal view of a machine’s work zone, allowing operators to view the tool or part during machining or setup. This makes it easier to solve processing errors before they start to affect part quality. Conditions that stop production can now be e-mailed in real time to reduce delays, and an e-mail with photos is sent when machining is finished or a specific M-code is executed.
