Whether you’re cutting aluminum, steel, or titanium, or making complex parts with high metal removal, a Makino 5-axis horizontal machining center can be your best solution. Depending on your parts’ geometries, the use of five-axis machining processes can likely reduce both setup and lead time, expanding your capabilities for capturing future work. And with more efficient chip handling and likely higher rigidity than vertical machines, the move to horizontal CNC maching can transform your manufacturing.
 
Makino takes 5-axis horizontal machining to the next level with our new a500Z. We offer:
  • High rigidity resulting from the a500Z’s unique double slant structure and true three-point leveling, Makino has developed multi-axis CNC milling machines that are highly productive, maximizing metal removal and minimizing perishable tooling costs. 
  • High accuracy through integrated active temperature control, including ball screw core cooling, direct drive rotary axes cooling, and spindle jacket cooling. 
  • Automation ready with features promoting easy integration into direct robot load systems, or Makino’s MMC2 pallet handling system. When integrated into an automated system, you can expect spindle utilization rates of up to 95%, and fully unattended operation over nights and weekends.

Makino 1-Series 
All Makino 1-Series horizontal machining centers can be configured for full 5-axis horizontal machining applications, ideal for efficient high production automotive or aerospace components manufacturing. Low maintenance, easy installation, and highly rigid three-point leveled platform utilizing proven support systems such as spindles, tool changer, and pallet changer all standard.
Makino MAG-Series 
The Makino MAG-Series of 5-axis horizontal machining centers are the ideal choice for machining medium to large aluminum airframe components. Unparalleled aluminum metal removal rates and superior chip management capabilities have raised the bar for productivity and efficiency.
Makino T-Series 
The Makino T-Series with TI ADVANTIGE™ titanium machining technologies provide four times the productivity and up to nine times the tool life over traditional titanium milling. High-volume, high-pressure cooling draws heat away from the titanium, supporting the integrity of the cutting tool.  Series features a unique combination of high range of axes motion and active dampening technologies.
Makino G-Series 
Eliminate non-value-added time in the manufacturing process by combining grinding, milling, and drilling operations in the same machine. The Makino G-Series horizontal machining centers are capable of performing all of these operations in difficult-to-machine nickel-based alloys. The patented VIPER grinding process delivers coolant via the vitreous grinding wheel pores for heat control.
Makino MCD-Series 
Featuring counterbalanced box way-style construction, the Makino MCD-Series are designed for large machining of hard metals such as stainless steels and titanium for the aerospace industry and other complex applications. These trunnion-style 5-axis horizontal maching centers are supported by a range of spindle offerings, and unique dual-driven rotary axes let you do high-force machining with the rotary in motion.
