Platinum Fluid Release Component

MATERIAL: Platinum

SPECIFICATIONS: 0.005-inch holes

A Makino U32j with 0.003-inch diameter wire was used to burn 0.005-inch holes into a graphite electrode. Upon completion, the electrode was attached to the spindle of a Makino EDGE2 and used to produce the final platinum fluid release components.

The parts were completed accurately and burr free, eliminating costs related to de-burring bench work. The EDM processing provided high repeatability for over 43 hours of operation, including long periods of unattended machining.
