MASON, OHIO - JUNE 2009 - Makino's highly acclaimed online seminar series reached a new milestone on June 4, with the 100th seminar broadcast. All 100 seminars are available in Makino's online seminar library (www.makino.com/library). These online events cover a wide variety of machining solutions, including production machining, micromachining, EDM, die mold, aerospace, and automation.
"It's really exciting to have shared so much machining knowledge in the last three years," said Mark Rentschler, Makino's marketing manager. "When we first started, online video was in its infancy--no one else in manufacturing was doing anything like this, especially without charging people to view the information. We never thought we'd reach the point where we have over 10,000 views of videos that shops use to help their business."
Bill Howard, a Makino product manager who has presented over a dozen of the events, has seen first hand how shops can utilize Makino's experience via the free online events.
"I can't tell you the number of times machinists and shop owners have come up to me at an industry event, thanking me for giving them the tid-bit they needed to solve a problem," said Howard. "A few have even told me the technologies we discuss have transformed their business.
"One of the most enjoyable parts of these seminars has been our question and answer segments. Addressing manufacturers' questions and concerns through this live forum has allowed us to better identify with our customers and their machining needs."
