Makino Media Site Now has RSS

Enables anyone to have a stream of updated Makino news

MASON, OHIO--July 2008--How many Internet webpage bookmarks do you check on a regular basis on your computer? If you're like most people, it's many, and it takes a long time to get through them all. There is a much more efficient way to comb through the news and information you are interested in--RSS. RSS allows you to have live, constantly updated bookmarks that you can quickly and easily scroll through, instead of visiting the news source's site each day.

Makino has updated its media website ( to include RSS feeds, providing a live stream of information as it is released.

"RSS is something that newspapers and magazines have been doing for a while, but media resource websites are just starting to embrace the trend," said Mark Rentschler, Makino's marketing manager. "We found that customers and publication editors are not only using this tool, but they're relying on it to get information in a timely and efficient manner. So adding RSS to our media website was the logical step."

To access Makino's media website RSS feed, visit and click RSS, or you can insert the RSS URL directly into your aggregator or RSS reader.

What is RSS?
RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication, and is essentially a text-only stream that can come to your computer in real-time, without the need to visit a particular website.

Perphaps the most popular way to use RSS is with "live bookmarks," found in most internet browsers such as Firefox and Internet Explorer. When you visit a site wtih RSS, you'll see an icon to the right of the URL in the address bar. Click the icon, and the browser will allow you to add a bookmark. Click that bookmark and a stream of news comes up, allowing you to glance at all the news at once or click on a particular story to view more.

Another way people use RSS is with an aggregator. An aggregator allows you to gather all your RSS feeds in one spot, typically on a website like Google Reader, My Yahoo, Bloglines, or iTunes, which also allows you listen to music while you're reading your news.
