Makino Selected to Receive the 2015 Outstanding Large Business in Community Service Award by Warren County Foundation

LeBlond Foundation of Makino to distribute more than $100K in charitable donations to agencies supporting local communities
Mason, Ohio – May 13, 2015 – Makino has been honored by the Warren County Foundation as recipient of its 2015 Outstanding Large Business in Community Service Award. The award was announced May 7 at the Warren County Foundation’s Eighth Annual Community Service Awards banquet at the Manor House in Mason. Makino was selected based on its charitable donations of $108,800 to 35 local agencies and organizations.
“We are extremely honored and humbled by the Warren County Foundation’s service award,” said Tom Clark, vice president of Makino. “Makino has long been a supporter of our local community by way of the kindness and generosity of our more than 600 employees. From donations to volunteer efforts, we are proud of and thankful to all of our staff members and their families for their charitable contribution and serving our communities through teamwork.”
The 2015 donations were made on behalf of The LeBlond Foundation of Makino and distributed to a total of 35 local agencies and organizations. A donation of $65,800 was apportioned to 18 employee-sponsored agencies, while $43,000 in assets and corporate gifts were distributed to The LeBlond Foundation of Makino’s 17 traditionally sponsored agencies.
Originally established by the LeBlond family of the historic LeBlond Machine Tool Company, The LeBlond Foundation of Makino has provided financial support to health, welfare, higher education, cultural, arts and civic organizations in local communities for several decades. In 2010 Makino chose to use this foundation in conjunction with the newly created Makino Volunteer Partnership (MVP) program to encourage employees to personally serve within their communities through volunteer efforts. MVP advocates volunteering with agencies supported by The LeBlond Foundation and is also open to employee suggestions for further outreach. Makino holds 15 to 20 volunteer events each year with more than 200 employee volunteers to date. Since the establishment of MVP, grant revenue has increased by 25 percent annually.
“Our vision for the Makino Volunteer Partnership program has not only been to give back to our community but also to get our employees personally connected to the needs of the populace,” said Clark. “This is of particular importance to our growing number of millennial-generation employees and their families, who are seeking a closer connection to their community. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to encourage cross-departmental relationships and collaboration throughout the Makino community to improve productivity, retention and recruitment.”
