Take a Closer Look at Makino at IMTS 2010

Makino showcases advanced machines, multiple new technologies in booth S-8700

MASON, OHIO – July 2010 – Makino demonstrates its new products and machining technologies at the 2010 International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, September 13-18. New machines and unique techniques will be displayed at the Makino Booth S-8700 in the South Hall.

“We are looking forward to having manufacturers visit our booth to see the latest innovations that Makino has to offer,” says Mark Rentschler, Makino marketing manager. “We will be hosting our valuable Lunch-and-Learn series again this year with a variety of Makino users on hand to discuss their experiences with Makino technology and we will also have our technical staff in the booth to provide solutions and help show attendees with their machining questions.”

New Machines and Featured Processes
Makino will be introducing a number of new machines at this year’s IMTS, including the F5 vertical machining center for unsurpassed accuracy and speed in dies and molds featuring complex geometries, UPV-3 wire EDM with oil-based dielectric fluid system for high-accuracy machining of carbide and mirror-like surface finishes to 0.08 µm Rz, EDAF3 sinker EDM with fine hole option, iQ300 precision micromachining center, and the a51nx and a61nx horizontal machining centers. All new machines will be cutting live on the show floor.

Makino will also be discussing their latest research and developments in titanium machining, including ADVANTiGE™ technologies. By improving spindle performance, coolant delivery, vibration damping, machine rigidity and cutting strategies, ADVANTiGE is capable of four times the productivity and double the tool life of conventional machining technologies. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss ADVANTiGE and view part samples created with ADVANTiGE.

In addition to the new machines, Makino will have several processes and dozens of parts on display, along with many of the manufacturers who created the parts to discuss the process and their use of Makino technology.

Demonstrations will include:
•    Aluminum aerospace machining on a MAG1 five-axis horizontal machining center.
•    A MMC-R automated robotic fixture plate distribution system integrated with an a81M-5XR five-axis horizontal machining center producing a titanium aerospace structural part.
•    The new EDAF3 sinker EDM performing rib details, fine holes and production machining.
•    Demonstrations of Makino’s HEAT wire EDM technology and low wire consumption.
•    Ultra precision micromachining including precise metrology.

Lunch and Learns
In addition to the displays at IMTS, Makino will be hosting Lunch-and-Learn events each day of the show that will include presentations from actual Makino users discussing their real world applications. Topics include large mold manufacturing, micromachining and micro EDM, Makino’s Titanium ADVANTiGE and more.

Events will be held from 12pm – 1pm daily in room S104B in the South Hall. Lunch will be provided and the presenters will be available for questions after each presentation. The full Lunch-and-Learn schedule and registration is available at www.makino.com/imts.
