5-Axis Aluminum Machining for Aerospace
May 18, 2006
In this Webinar, Makino discusses 5-axis machining platforms to further the efficiency of aluminum parts production. Difficult parts are discussed, like those with thin walls or with complex, dynamic considerations. "Many aerospace components are complex, with features such as thin walls that require an accurate machining platform and some creative programming," said Alan Hollatz, Makino's aerospace proposal engineer. "By implementing a 5-axis system, you can greatly reduce setups and increase overall aerospace part production efficiency." Cutting tools designed for aluminum high-speed machining are discussed, as well as holders and spindle interfaces, the advantages of features found in properly designed control software, programming, and proper use of coolant.
