Wire EDM from prototype to fully automated parts production, Makino helps you meet the specs that matter.

Makino is committed to leadership in developing innovative wire EDM technologies for one simple reason: to help customers who make the parts that matter and meet the increasing demands from industry for better accuracy, surface finish and cost per part. Responding to the continually evolving needs of wire EDM job shops, Makino has introduced advancements such as H.E.A.T., BellyWIZARD™ and SurfaceWIZARD™ high-tension wire technology and advanced precision and economy technologies libraries for .012-inch wire. Makino has provided customers in the manufacturing industry with the ability to produce a wider variety of parts faster, with better accuracies, surface finishes and surface integrity, under all machining conditions.

Additional Information:
Newly developed DUO technology for .012-inch-diameter wire provides 30 percent faster cutting over .010-inch-diameter wire technologies while using 30 percent less wire than other standard .012-inch wire technologies.

Makino’s wire delivery system consumes up to 40 percent less wire than other standard systems. As the cost of wire continues to increase, this can amount to tens of thousands of dollars saved each year in wire costs.

Machine Details:
The latest DUO-Series are the only wire EDM machines on the market today that offer a choice of split precision or PICO precision wire guide systems based on the specific applications and needs of our customers.

DUO43 and DUO64 machines offer an advanced Automatic Wire Threading (AWT) system that achieves incredible AWT times of 10 seconds or less, even at full Z-stroke and in the most demanding wire-threading situations.

The Makino U-Series U32j and U53j machines achieve a higher degree of accuracy and finish capabilities.

The massive U86 can handle table loads up to 6,600 pounds with a 20-inch Z-axis.

The UPJ-2 horizontal wire EDM is designed for extreme micromachining applications. In real-life test cuts, it achieved surface finishes measured in the nanometer range and auto-threading of tungsten wire down to .0008 inches in diameter.
