The core of the V300 is a highly engineered casting structure designed for precise motion control. The spindle is carried by the X- and Z- axis on the machine column structure with the Y- axis under the machine table. All axes are box way construction for superior vibration dampening characteristics and exceptional motion stability throughout the range of travel.
Central to the V300 is a proprietary spindle, engineered and built by Makino. Complete control of the spindle design and manufacturing processes ensures the highest quality standards are maintained, delivering consistent performance and long-term reliability. The spindle design incorporates the following key features:
- Integrated spindle and drive motor for improved dynamic response and vibration free performance at high RPMs
- Makino’s patented core‑cooling design and under‑race bearing lubrication technology provides stable thermal performance over extended machining cycles
- Enhanced jacket cooling for thermal stability of the bearing housing and the spindle casting
- A high-capacity oil temperature controller for cooling of the spindle, ball screw drive systems and slideway surface temperature control
The V300 vertical machining center is engineered with advanced thermal regulating systems that elevate precision and consistently maintain it, even during the extended machining cycles typical of high‑accuracy component production and die and mold manufacturing.
To deliver consistent accuracy during long operating periods, the V300 incorporates the following features:
- Core cooled ball screws, support bearings, and thermally isolated servo motor mounting brackets
- Slideway system cooling for all axes including thermal control of the spindle mounting surface to suppress heat saturation of the saddle
- Beyond the machine thermal control systems, the Pro 6 eStabilizer function further suppresses positioning errors caused by ambient temperature changes
- The bed and column stabilizer system improves thermal stability by filling the castings with a thermally conductive fluid to stabilize machine geometry during changes in ambient temperature (optional)
Built to address modern production requirements, the V300 was designed for automation‑ready manufacturing. An available robot load door system simplifies integration into automated cells. Enhanced workzone coolant flushing further ensures efficient chip and coolant evacuation for uninterrupted operation.
In addition, the V300 is equipped with the Makino Professional 6 control known for its user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) and proven reliable performance. Next‑generation Super Geometric Intelligence 6 (SGI.6) motion control software is now available on the V300, further improving accuracy and surface finish quality. SGI.6 now offers ten operating modes to optimize machining performance and reduce cycle time. For machine protection, Collision Safeguard crash avoidance is integrated into the Pro 6 control to help prevent spindle, workpiece, and fixture interference. For enhanced process control and improved efficiency, high accuracy laser tool setters and spindle probes for workpiece measuring are also available.
